Automatic Core Shooter Type "BZV-TM 100-DO"

The core shooter in question is an automatic machine for producing cores to be used with all currently popular cold-box processes. The machine is designed to facilitate the production of large cores made from:

  • Open-top core boxes
  • Horizontally divided core boxes

To ease the removal of the cores and molds produced, the machine is equipped with a mobile cart that allows the operator to fully bring the core box or mold out of the machine to a location easily accessible for pick-up (in the case of molds) or hoists for removing hardened cores.

The machine comes standard with a complete perimeter enclosure, an electric control panel with a programmable logic controller (PLC) SIEMENS, and onboard electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The perimeter enclosure completely surrounds the machine, while the area where the operator mounts the core box and removes the hardened cores is protected by a full-height optoelectronic barrier and a perimeter protection mesh on the other three sides.

Some key features of the machine are outlined below:

  • Movement of the Shooting and Gassing Head: Achieved via hydraulic cylinders combined with a position recognition system using encoders.

  • Key Movement Points: (shooting position, gassing position, scraper entry position, gas plate insertion position, core box coupling position, etc.) can be stored via keyboard and saved in a series of recipes that can be recalled, activating the requested recipe when needed.

  • Cart Hydraulic Extraction System: The cart that holds the core box contains a hydraulic extraction system with a 150 mm stroke that enables the ejection of the hardened core from the lower half of the core box.

  • Machine Head Composition: The machine head consists of the shooting head, the gassing plate, and the associated insertion system.

  • Gassifier for Cold-Box Process: (max 300 kg core weight) can be integrated into the perimeter enclosure (optional).

  • Integrated Electrical Panel: Located within the enclosure, featuring an operator panel supported by a specially articulated arm, with a Siemens S7 PLC, OP 77 display, and multilingual operational software equipped with storable recipes featuring the following configurable variants:

    1. Indication of the shooting head configuration to use,
    2. Single, double, or triple shooting, each with its own loading time,
    3. Loading frequency,
    4. Indication of the shooting pressure to use,
    5. Table positions during lifting and lowering movements,
    6. Gassing time,
    7. Washing time,
    8. Indication of the gassing pressure to use,
    9. Indication of the washing pressure to use,
    10. Possibility to include a mid-cycle stop for the introduction of reinforcement or hook before executing the gassing cycle,
    11. Type of cycle to perform (horizontal, vertical, etc.)

The filterless shooting system adopted on this machine allows operation with reduced shooting pressures. The machine is constructed in compliance with European safety standards, is CE marked, and is accompanied by the corresponding declaration of conformity.

EXAMPLE OF OPERATIONAL SEQUENCE:

  1. The operator exits the protected area and presses the system reset and start cycle buttons.
  2. The extractor retracts inside the cart.
  3. The cart enters the machine.
  4. The front doors close.
  5. The shooting head descends to couple the two halves of the core box (if the holder for the upper half of the core box exists), compressing the shooting head onto the core box.
  6. The machine automatically executes the programmed shooting cycle (single, double, or triple).
  7. The shooting head partially rises to allow the gassing plate to insert between the shooting head and the core box.
  8. The shooting head descends to compress the gassing plate over the core box.
  9. The machine automatically executes the gassing and washing cycle.
  10. The shooting head fully rises to allow the gassing plate to exit and the core box to open.
  11. The operator side doors open.
  12. The cart carrying the core box exits.
  13. The hydraulic extractor rises and expels the hardened core from the lower half of the core box.
  14. At this point, the machine cycle is complete, and the operator can enter the protected area to lift the core box containing the hardened core using hoists or overhead cranes.

HOLDING DEVICE FOR UPPER HALF OF CORE BOX:

These special devices allow for the retention of the upper half of the core box during the upward movement of the shooting head when using horizontally divided core boxes. At the end of the cycle, once the shooting head rises along with the corresponding holder for the upper half of the core box, the cart holding the lower half of the core box is translated out of the shooting position, allowing the operator to reach the hardened core still located inside the lower half of the core box. The device is equipped with mechanical adjustment regulators to adapt to the dimensions of the core box.
